ASP Session Objects
A user working with an application opens it, possibly makes some
changes and then closes it. This is a kind of a session. The computer
is well aware when the user started the application and when he ended
it. This is not the case with a web server on the internet. Because
the HTTP address does not maintain state, the web server is unaware of
the user’s actions. To solve this problem, ASP creates a unique cookie
for each user. The cookie contains information that identifies the
user and is sent to the client server. This particular interface is
called session object. The session object is automatically created
when a user requests an ASP page from the web application or web site.
It remains available until the expiration of the session. It is used
to store information about one single user. The information stored
comprises of name, preferences and id. a The server builds a new
session object for a new user. When the session expires, the
server destroys the session object.
